It's National STEM/STEAM Day! Top 5 Classic STEM Projects

Hi Reader,

Today is National STEM/STEAM Day and to celebrate we are sharing some of the classic STEM projects that stand the test of time with students of all backgrounds. All students should do these STEM projects at least once!

Build a Catapult - The classic is to build a craft stick catapult, but you can use any materials and start launching! Turn it into a math game and explore physics by having students aim their catapults at numbered targets. Want to power it up? Try our immensely popular Catapult Cannon!

Launch Bottle Rockets - This is one way you can use the classic baking soda and vinegar reaction and turn it into a fantastic STEM project that will thrill kids. Then look for even more ways to use this chemical reaction to power up your STEM lessons with our Baking Soda and Vinegar resource.

Build a Bridge - How strong can you make your bridge? What different materials can you use to make your bridge? Can you make a bridge with no glue or fasteners like a da Vinci Bridge? Or really challenge your older students and have them explore Tensegrity Structures. The classic bridge building challenge is always fun in the classroom.

No Prep Paper STEM - Sometimes you need a quick and easy STEM project that you can pull out without any prep work. We've got you covered with these fascinating No Prep Paper STEM Challenges for the classroom.

Build a Circuit - We love a great circuit building project and the best part is that you can start with super simple projects, like a Salt Circuit, Lemon Batteries, or Squishy Circuit with your younger students, then move on to magical projects like a Harry Potter Wand or Circuit Bugs, then challenge your oldest students to tackle building a Buzz Circuit Game.
